Rain rain go away. Don't you know Greekfest is tonight.

Hyde Park Blast

So tomorrow is the 10th running of the Hyde Park Blast. It will be my first running of this major 4m race. I've heard so many things about this race. It is a hard race. The race is hilly, scenic, and attracts a lot of elite runners from the area. The winner of the 2009 Blast ran it in under 19 minutes. That's amazing. So I am a little nervous about it, but excited to run a major Cincinnati Race!

Under the Weather

Ugh. Under the weather! I believe this is the first time I've ever been sick during the summer. From what I hear there is a virus going around. A few co-workers have been out sick this week. Watch out for the summer flu bug!

House Projects

There have been several in the past few weeks. First, the old deck was tore down in lieu of creating a new patio. Then, the electrical cable running from the house to the garage was trenched a week ago. On Monday, the two stumps left over from the mulberry trees that were cut down in our yard were chipped away and removed. Lastly, the boot vent pipe running out of our house through the roof was replaced and sealed. There had been leakage onto the 3rd floor through the old and brittle seal. That got replaced and now we are hoping that there is no more water coming in. Fingers crossed.

It's FRIDAY! Its actually Shop Bellevue Friday.

It's the First Friday of March and that must mean Shop Bellevue Night. For the past several years, my hometown of Bellevue, Ky has been putting on a First Friday night for the shops on Fairfield Ave. The event has grown from just a few shops participating to a rather large scale event that is looked upon as a major social and retail even in the Northern Kentucky area. First Friday draws crowds in from all reaches of the Tri-State area and beyond.

If you are in the Northern Kentucky area tonight, come down to Bellevue between 6-9 pm and attend the first 'March Madness' of the First Friday series. Here is a link to the 'Avenue' newsletter discussing the event.

Resuscitation of the Blog...

So Ive considered that maybe, just maybe, I should bring back this little blog to life. A lot has been going on lately. I've been running quite a bit, getting ready for the Boston Marathon. With that, I've most certainly had some challenges. I was pretty sick at the beginning of the New Year. I've been pretty sick the past few weeks now. I'm ready to get back to being healthy and ramping up my training for April's race.

From a little push, I've decided to share some of the things that I create here on my blog. I do some video work as a career, and I was asked to blog about some of the things I do and possibly share some of my work. So, I think I will. Some of the work will be final pieces, others, just rough drafts of things. I am a multimedia producer, so I design a lot of different things. So you might find all kinds of things here from time to time.

This is a little video I put together for a contest that my town, Bellevue Ky, entered a few years ago.

My review of the Nike+ sportband

So I finally got my Nike+ sport band figured out. After finally figuring out that I accidentally turned off the sensor that goes into your shoe, I finally got my sport band to sync with the sensor. When I first got the kit out and tried to get the sport band to sync with the sensor, it wouldn't work. I kept holding the record button and walking around like the directions say to do, but it would never sync. Later, after doing some mighty google research, I found out that a user can actually turn off the sensor by holding down the little white 'reset' button for 3 seconds. I forgot I had done this earlier, thinking that if I reset the sensor, it would work. Little did I realize, I just had turned the sensor off. So after an hour and getting a little frustrated and declaring the Nike+ sensor technology crap, I got it to work. Hallelujah.

After getting the Nike+ kit to sync, I went out on my first 5 mile run with my new tool. Its great. Its just one screen. A user can toggle through the different readouts to suit their needs. Time, Mileage, Pace, Calories, and Chrono are the different readouts. I love having the data stored in my sport band and being able to upload it to my computer.

The USB 'band' connects directly to a user's computer via usb port. It is easy to use and connects immediately. Before a user starts using the device, they must go to http://www.nikeplus.com/downloads and download the software utility to upload the data from the USB band to the nikeplus website. Once the utitility is downloaded, this is where settings are stored such as time, weight, and date.

I enjoy my Nike+ sportband. If you dont feel like spending 250 on a garmin and just want some basic data about your runs, the sport band is for you. Ive like it so far. Its easy to use once you get it set up. Just push the button and run.
