Mardi Gras here we come...

Well, thank you to all the Presidents of this fine country for giving me the day off. It would be nice if President's day were in May or June. Maybe it would be a little nicer day off weather-wise. One can't complain though.

Wednesday, Mrs. H. and I are flying down to New Orleans for Mardi Gras. We are both very excited to go down and visit our family. We have not been back since we got married there in 2004. We both have a love for New Orleans and we always will. We will have a connection to the "Big Easy" for the rest of our lives. We are very happy that New Orleans is having Mardi Gras. It's a city that is in the business of throwing parties for world to see, and it's nice to see that business continues. Not even Katrina could keep it down.

I will definitely post some pictures of our trip when we get back. I am just happy that when we get home, it will be March. Spring is almost here. Think warm thoughts.

the living room

We did hang the "painted lady" and the mirror over the fireplace. As well, we hung the rest of the curtains and attached the tiebacks.

Here are a few pictures of our work.

pictures are hung...

Sorry for the long absence between posts. Mrs. H and I have been quite busy lately, so the blog has taken a back seat to other priorities. We have made some updates since our last post. All of our curtains on the lower level are now hung. We painted the stairwell going up to the second floor. We replaced most of the switchplates in the house. And yes, we even hung a few pictures. Here are some snapshots of our work.

Both panels and valances hung in the dining area.

Here is a full display with the tie back.

A close up of the tieback.

The dining area with the hutch. A different dining room table and the top half of the hutch are soon to come.

We replaced most of the switchplates in the house. They really give the house a historic feel. We didn't realize until we put them up, but they really match the frame around the Natchez pic.

Our beloved Natchez picture. It looks fantastic in our dining area.
