Walking into a room and not getting your sock caught on a splinted piece of wood...PRICELESS
Well...yes. I did refinish our master bedroom floor. I must say I am pleased with the results. You can still see the marks from where people over the years have moved beds, furniture, and other objects on the unprotected floor. I say it gives the floor "character." Mrs. H. agreed. I really dont know what the PO's were doing. You can easily tell where they stained AROUND the area rug that used to lay in the middle of the floor. They must have been embarrassed by this and laid god awful linoleum on top of it later on. Needless to say, the floor doesnt have to suffer anymore. Also, the shiny new floor has really "perked" up the place. Now if only i could get rid of the polyurethane smell that lingers upstairs...
Here are a few pictures of the project.
Prepping for sanding.
Poor floor. Don't worry.
Im here to save you!
After the first sanding
with 24 grit sandpaper.
After the second coat of poly.

Very nice!
And I though our POs were the only weird ones out there.
The house we are buying has a room exactly like that. They actually painted an antique finish on the floor around a linoleum rug. Man is it ugly . . .
The floors looked great . . . nice job.
We're about to start this project on the whole house-- what color stain did you use, if any? They look great! I love floors with character.
