Running Background

I was recently asked about my running background. So here it is. Actually, I dont have much of a running background. At least not an exciting one. I played sports in high school; football and basketball. Then I played intramural sports in college. I remember my freshman roommate and I hitting the rec center at least once or twice a day. This continued on throughout my 4.5 yrs in school. Basketball, lifting weights, and sweating up the Nordic Track became a part of my daily life. It was easy to work out then. Just get a group of friends together, go to the rec, and work out. We would work out between classes or at night.

After college though, became the challenge. I moved home after school to look for a job, so I just started running. I needed something that I could do that would keep me in shape and was relatively easy to do on my own. When I wasnt looking for jobs, I was out running. It was great. I never did think about running competitively though. I just ran for the joy of running.

Then I got married. That changed things quite a bit. We moved around some and I was working longer hours. We lived in Cleveland and it was hard to stay motivated to run in the frigid winters that NE Ohio brings. So my running tapered off. A lot. It wasn't til we moved to Cincinnati that I became a regular "runner."

And that's where we are today. Cincinnati. Running. Competitively. My wife decided that she wanted to run. She wanted to run the Cleveland Half Marathon, and she started training. That's when I decided that I wanted to as well. Ive always enjoyed running, and this was the time and place to do that. So we trained for the race and ran successfully. Afterwards, we made running a daily habit. So we ran the Columbus Marathon this past fall and have enjoyed running ever since. We set new goals for ourselves and continue to challenge ourselves.

Running is something that we enjoy doing. We are embracing it more each day. We continue to challenge ourselves. We challenge each other. We give each other support and try our best. For any other reason, we do it for the travel, food, and the medal. More importantly, we do it for ourselves.

So that's my running history...

I think this is the nicest part of the post: "Running is something that we enjoy doing. We are embracing it more each day. We continue to challenge ourselves. We challenge each other. I agree -- wish the writers' strike would end! Need new shows...

Chuck is more of a "spy" show than a techie show... so some techies wouldn't be able to get into it (notice the use of the word techie...) -- I like the spy/mystery part of it (I'm not very techie). :-)

I guess so. I started to like Chuck, but for some reason, I just lost interest. I wanted to like it...i really did.
